Thomann E-Bass Gigbag Eco

Wij Hollanders worden vaak gezien als 'zuinig' (vandaar: 'going Dutch' ;-).
En we zijn een volkje van spreekwoorden en gezegden: 'Alle waar naar z'n geld' is voor deze basgitaarhoes meer dan van toepassing. Ik wilde een zo voordelig mogelijke bescherm- dan wel stofhoes voor mijn basgitaar. En dit voldoet aan de minimale eisen. Bedoeld om de bas stofvrij te houden als ik die lange tijd niet gebruik.
Voor een 'optreed-tas' (gigbag) of voor een speelsituatie buitenshuis zou ik deze hoes niet aanraden. Dan is het toch wel verstandiger de iets duurdere versie met gewatteerde voering te nemen. Ook voor je rug is dat beter... Zoals gezegd, alle waar naar z'n geld. Wat dat betreft biedt Thomann een ruim assortiment (zeker als je in budgettair opzicht toch al zuinig aan moet doen). Daarom heb ik bewust voor dit 'low budget' item kunnen kiezen.

N.B. ik leg aan de onderzijde een extra laagje (oude handdoek, schuim) om zo te voorkomen dat de onderkant van het instrument beschadigingen kán krijgen door het gewicht dat op de rits drukt

However, what it is, is a remarkably practical and budget-friendly solution for the musician who needs a basic, reliable way to transport their bass and keep it free from cosmetic damage.

For the price, this gigbag does exactly what you expect from it – and that's its greatest strength. It provides a simple, effective means of carrying your electric bass from point A to point B. The straps are functional for shoulder or backpack-style transport, making it easy enough to take to rehearsals, lessons, or casual jams.

Crucially, it offers a decent layer of protection against scratches, dust, and minor scuffs that can happen when moving your instrument around. Think of it as a slipcover with straps – it keeps the finish looking good and prevents minor surface wounds.

However, and this is important to reiterate, do not expect significant impact protection from this gigbag. There is minimal padding. While it will shield your bass from everyday bumps and scrapes, it will not safeguard it from drops, knocks against hard surfaces, or the rigors of baggage handling. If your transportation involves crowded public transport, frequent loading and unloading, or any situation where your instrument might be subjected to physical impact, you will need to invest in a gigbag with more substantial padding or a hard case.

In conclusion, the Thomann E-Bass Gigbag 2 is an excellent value for its intended purpose. It's perfect for home storage, light travel, and keeping your bass free from minor cosmetic damage. It's a straightforward, no-nonsense gigbag that performs its basic function admirably at a price that's hard to beat. Just be realistic about its protective capabilities and choose a more robust option if your needs demand greater impact resistance.

For the price, this is a very decent bag. The front pocket is massive, so you can store a lot in it. Overall, I don’t have many complains for this bag.
However, from a more objective standpoint, you might be better off spending a little bit more to get a better bag. The padding is pretty thin, it’s not super bad, but could definitely be better. The straps are thin and a bit uncomfortable around the shoulders, so if you’re someone like me who travels by bike a lot or walks a lot, then this might be a problem.

Conclusion: very decent bag, and if you really don’t want to spend to much, I’d say totally get it. But if you have bit more to spend, I highly recommend spending that on something a bit better.
